Rehab Fails, Career Over For Mafia Mendoza
Saturday, November 14th, 2026
Gustavo Mendoza's baseball career is hanging in the balance. After extensive rehabilitation to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament, disaster struck. The New York starting pitcher tripped over an outfield tarpaulin while chasing a foul ball prior to the game and reinjured himself, causing what his doctors say is "catastrophic damage." Speaking with reporters, his manager said, "Gustavo is in a state of disbelief. He has come so far in his recovery, and this was a total shock. A quirky accident that might have cost him his career."
In his career Mendoza has 20 victories and 27 defeats with a 4.80 ERA.
