Zhu Caps Memorable Season with CL Silver Slugger Award Honor Monday, September 22nd, 2025 For fans of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, there was certainly no doubting the value of Kung-zheng Zhu this season. Now the 20-year-old pitcher has an award to show just how valuable he was, as he's been named the 2025 Central League Silver Slugger Award winner. His remarkable campaign saw him put up a 11-2 record. In 17 starts he piled up 89.1 innings, had 125 strikeouts with 24 walks and a 1.81 ERA. Zhu held opposing hitters to a .181 batting average and compiled a 4.5 WAR. Nobukazu Nakamura of the Hiroshima Toyo Carp finished second in voting, while Tomiji Kohara of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows finished third. |
