Ch'oe on a Tear, Hits for Cycle
Tuesday, March 18th, 2025
You might say Cheol-chung Ch'oe wore out his welcome with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. The first baseman gave them fits in today's 6-4 Chiba Lotte victory by hitting for the cycle. "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. Ch'oe ended the day with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, he said, "After the first three hits, I thought to myself, This could be the game I hit for the cycle. And I got lucky and did it."
Cheol-chung Ch'oe hit a two-run home run off Katsuhito Ohashi in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, walked in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
For the season Ch'oe is hitting .432, batted in 13 runs with 2 home runs and 6 runs scored.
