Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Pacific League Silver Slugger Award. Mengal hit for a .311 average while collecting 103 hits, 19 doubles, no triples, 38 home runs, 106 RBIs and scoring 77 times. Hirofumi Rin of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks finished second in voting, while Toshikazu Yokoyama of the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles finished third. |
