Hamada Gets 5 Hits
Saturday, July 20th, 2024
"It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what ORIX second baseman Ichizo Hamada said to BNN reporters after his fantastic 5-for-5 day against the Chiba Lotte Marines. "I got some good counts and used the whole field." However, his sensational day wasn't enough. The Marines won the ballgame 11-10. The disappointed Hamada said to reporters, "I guess you can't always have it all." He added, tongue in cheek, "I guess it's better to go 5 for 5 and lose than it is to go 0 for 5 and lose." Ichizo Hamada doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Yeijiro Suzuki in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 9th.
Presently Hamada is hitting .452 with 8 home runs and 20 RBIs. He has played in 19 games and scored 18 times.
