Central League Announces Best Starter Saturday, June 1st, 2024 There's something about a young rookie winning the Central League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Naonobu Miyata, a 19-year-old starter for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. In May, he topped off the month with a 4-0 mark and 1.86 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 29 innings, fanned 31 and held opposing teams to a .149 average. So far this season Miyata has a 5-2 record, 14 starts, 72.2 innings, 98 strikeouts and a 2.35 ERA. |
