5-Hit Barrage by Yi
Tuesday, May 9th, 2023
5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Hyun-soo Yi of the Saitama Seibu Lions. He tore up the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Saitama Seibu 21-5 win today at Ballpark of Hakui College. "Yi was a tough out today," the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure." Hyun-soo Yi tripled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Hitoshi Samurakami in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Pong-su Yi in the 9th.
So far this year in 43 games Yi is hitting .274 with 11 home runs, 33 RBIs and 41 runs scored.
