PL's Top Player, Jiménez of Saitama Seibu Monday, April 24th, 2023 No single hit brought Paco Jiménez Player of the Week honors -- the Saitama Seibu Lions first baseman corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said Jiménez. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too agressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. Jiménez stroked 10 hits in 14 at-bats while cranking out no home runs, 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Currently Jiménez is batting .326 with 7 home runs and 25 RBIs. |
