Great Day for Kanda -- 6 Hits Sunday, March 12th, 2023 It was a hits blitz for Yoshihisa Kanda at Ballpark of Nakashibetsu College. The Chunichi Dragons left fielder tore into Yokohama for 6 hits in 6 at-bats and wrote his name into the record book. But it wasn't enough to win the game. The Yokohama Bay Stars swept past the Dragons 19-17 to ruin the day for him. The Chunichi manager bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game. The Bay Stars got too many good looks today, and we paid for it." Yoshihisa Kanda singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Yorikane Watari in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a three-run double in the 9th. Looking at his present stats, Kanda has compiled a .435 batting average in 5 games with a .519 on-base percentage, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 11 runs. |
