Okada Sidelined for 4-5 Months
Saturday, July 23rd, 2022
It took the Tokyo Yakult team doctor a while to realize it, but closer Yasuhiro Okada won't simply play through radial nerve compression after he got hurt throwing a pitch in today's Giants-Swallows game. At first, it looked like Okada might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 4-5 months.
Up to this point in the season, Okada has fashioned a 0-1 won-lost mark, made 9 relief appearances and rung up 4 saves. He has a 6.75 ERA and has allowed 11 hits over his 8 innings of work, struck out 8 batters and walked 6.
