Tucker Runs Hit String to 20 Straight Games Friday, May 2nd, 2025 He did it again! Jake Tucker got another hit and ran his hitting streak to 20. He collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, but that wasn't enough to win the game. His Niagara Stars were defeated 15-10 at Ballpark of Chilliwack College by the Victoria Capitals. During the recent streak, the 19-year-old catcher has remained quiet, sidestepping questions about it with ease. Whether for superstitious reasons or simply in an effort to avoid the spotlight, Tucker preferred to shower praise on his team. He told reporters in the clubhouse after the loss, "We have a better ballclub than we showed today." "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "So, we're trying to kind of keep that quiet... don't want to jinx him." Jake Tucker hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. So far this season Tucker has 14 home runs and a .327 batting average. |
