His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Joel worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits." "That's what I'm trying to do," Simmonds said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Joel Simmonds hit a two-run home run off Gino Granger in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. On the year Simmonds has hit .408 with 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and scored 18 runs. |
