Oakes Honored, 2024 LBL Silver Slugger Award Saturday, June 8th, 2024 The manager of the Kelowna Heat said he thinks John Oakes is only going to get better as he gets older. He may only be 20, but it will be hard to top the second baseman's 2024 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Lester B. Person League Silver Slugger Award. His winning campaign featured a .379 batting average and a .489 on-base percentage this year. In 59 games he piled up 86 hits, 15 doubles, no triples, 24 home runs, 74 RBIs and 58 runs scored. George Covey of the Montreal Royales finished second in voting, while Éric Cuny of the Calgary Outlaws finished third. |
