LBL Star of the Week Picked Monday, May 8th, 2023 John Oakes must have thought he was in seventh heaven this week. First he went on a sensational hitting spree, belting the ball at a .514 pace, then the Kelowna second baseman finds outs he has been selected the top performer and gets the Lester B. Person League Player of the Week Award. Asked what his hitting philosophy was, Oakes quipped to the BNN reporters, "Well, my theory of hitting is to just watch the ball as it comes in and hit it." It was a good week's work for Oakes. He hit .514 average (18-35) with 3 home runs and 12 RBIs. In 2023 Oakes has hit at a .468 clip with 111 hits, 31 home runs, 81 RBIs and has scored 80 times. |
