Mr. Perfect: Turner Tosses Rare Gem Friday, April 25th, 2025 It was a one-in-a-million shot. Only happens once in a blue moon. Or maybe only when hell freezes over. For Arkansas Razorbacks pitcher Elmer Turner, today's game was very, very special. The 20-year-old hurler joined baseball's most elite fraternity by tossing a perfect game against the Alabama Crimson Tide. In the 10-0 Arkansas win, Turner had 14 strikeouts, retiring all 27 hitters he faced. He told the press, "I think it was in the eighth inning that it dawned on me that not only was I pitching a no-hitter, but no one has gotten on base either. I had a perfect game going. But you know, I felt as strong as I did in the first inning. I went right after them with all I had ... and I got me a perfect game." His batterymate told BNN reporters, "He worked the corners real well and made Alabama go fishin' a lot. His breaking stuff really gave them fits. Turner didn't give them very many good looks, and nothing in the middle of the plate. He was in command the whole ballgame." To this point in the season Turner has 3 wins and 4 losses and a 3.69 ERA. |
