5-Hit Blitz by Alabama's Ervin Thursday, April 17th, 2025 After the Alabama 14-8 victory over South Illinois and his 5-hit day second baseman Thomas Ervin told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game are very good. Three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special." The 19-year-old player gained that distinction today at Titans Ballpark with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the South Illinois Salukis. The skipper of the Crimson Tide spoke glowingly of Ervin, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Thomas did that to perfection today." Thomas Ervin singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. Currently Ervin is hitting .283 and has collected 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 24 times, while playing in 33 games. |
