Burton on a Rampage, Hits for Cycle Tuesday, March 4th, 2025 Ryan Burton really put the hurt on the Cal State Fullerton Titans today, leading the Cardinals to a 20-9 win. He tagged them for 4 hits in 6 at-bats and hit for the cycle. Burton also had 2 RBI and 3 runs scored in the game at Hartford College Grounds. Hitting for the cycle is one of the most unusual feats in baseball at any level. The odds are near astronomical against a player hitting a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game. The Stanford third baseman said after the game, "I got some great pitches to hit... all 4 times the pitches didn't go where the pitcher wanted them to go. I hit their mistakes. Hitting for the cycle was great, but winning the game and helping my team is far more important. Individual accomplishments are fine, but I want to win, too." Ryan Burton flied out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Ronald Stevens in the 4th, tripled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th. |
