Bad Behavior Costs Berroa and Michel Monday, April 22nd, 2024 The action was hot and heavy at a recent Arkansas-South Illinois game at Ramparts Ballpark in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Razorbacks Rafael Berroa and South Illinois's Cody Michel will each miss 2 games for their roles in the fight. "We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe." To date Berroa has chalked up a .138 average with 6 home runs, driven in 20 runs and scored 18 times. To this point in the season, Michel shows a 0-3 record, 9 starts, 46.2 innings, 50 strikeouts and a 2.31 ERA. |
