Injury Forces Tomás Cruz Out
Monday, March 25th, 2024
It took the USC team doctor a while to realize it, but reliever Tomás Cruz won't simply play through a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament after he got hurt throwing a pitch in today's Longhorns-Trojans game. At first, it looked like Cruz might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 8-9 months.
This season Cruz has earned 0 saves, tossed 18.2 innings, made 10 relief appearances, fanned 24 hitters and posted an ERA of 0.48. Teams are hitting .188 against him.
