Blast Off! 3 HR for Manuel Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 Juan Manuel of the Iowa State Cyclones had a lot to celebrate in today's 11-8 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks. Three times he celebrated by pounding the ball out of Scandals Ballpark. He kiddingly told reporters after the game, "Hopefully, I can continue to close my eyes and swing as hard as I can. It worked well today." The powerful Iowa State right fielder tagged 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 4 runs and scored 4 times in his three-homer outburst. Manuel added, "Seriously, I just try to swing early and often to give myself a chance. I let the pitcher supply all the power, I just try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball." "We talked about changing our strategy for the third one ... and then he hit another homer," the South Carolina manager said. "We just couldn't get him out."
