Bad Behavior Costs Espinosa and Marino
Sunday, April 23rd, 2023
The action was hot and heavy at a recent Georgia-Alabama game at Field of the Plunder in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Bulldogs Carlos Espinosa and Alabama's Marcos Marino will each miss 2 games for their roles in the fight.
"We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe."
This year Espinosa is hitting .219 with 2 home runs and 14 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .321 clip and scored 16 runs.
This year Marino has a 2-2 record with a 2.20 ERA.
