5-6 Game for Pennington Sunday, March 19th, 2023 On top of the Oregon State hit parade today was Mike Pennington. He went to the plate 6 times and tagged 5 hits, but it was Louisiana-Layfayette that marched off with the 6-5 win. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-6 performance, however the Ragin Cajuns marked it up in the victory column. The sweet swinging second baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Beavers griped to the press, "As a team, we just didn't do it with the bats and the pitching today. That's why we lost." Mike Pennington singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Armando Sierra in the 6th, singled in the 9th and grounded out in the 11th. This year Pennington has hit at a .367 clip with 7 RBIs, 3 home runs and 9 runs scored. |
