Hughes Gives Up, Suffers Setback and Retires

The North Carolina newspaper reported today that Tar Heels starting pitcher Julian Hughes has decided to retire from baseball due to a serious setback while recovering from a torn ulnar collateral ligament. "I'm disappointed," Hughes told BNN. "My worst fear is a reality and I won't be coming back to the game."
Hughes has a 3-3 season record so far. In 10 starts, he has fanned 65 batters in 59.2 innings with a 3.77 ERA.
