Cabrera's Great Year Nets Cy Young Award Sunday, May 16th, 2021 The Cy Young Award for 2021 has been presented and the Rod Dedeaux League winner is José Cabrera of Louisiana-Layfayette. "It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Cabrera. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Ragin Cajuns star told reporters. Cabrera excelled with an impressive 7-1 record in 10 starts. In 63 innings he yielded 42 hits and 21 walks, while striking out 72 and compiling a fine 2.00 ERA.Robert Cook of the Arizona State Sun Devils finished second in voting, while Luis Meléndez of the South Mississippi Golden Eagles finished third. |
