Rookie Chippewa River Chiefs's first baseman Leads Buck O'Neil League to Win in Annual All-Star Game
Tuesday, July 15th, 2025
All-Star Chippewa River Chiefs's first baseman César Carrego had a night to remember.
Not only did he take the field with the game's best players, he was also a huge factor in the 8-5 Buck O'Neil League victory over the August Herrman League All-Stars.
"We had a meeting before the game, and I was struck by the talent in the room. Old stars, young stars, it's a game I'll never forget," Carrego said after the game. "I talked to a few of my old friends from Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela before the game, and they told me to go out and win the game for them. I'm sure they'll enjoy seeing the trophy back home," he added.
Over his 285-game career Carrego has compiled a .265 batting average and collected 257 hits, 53 home runs and 187 RBIs.
