Friday, November 1st, 2024
The future looks extremely bright for Ramón Vela. At the age of 21, many players are still trying to find their way in SINGLE A.
Vela has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the Buck O'Neil League Silver Slugger Award.
"I didn't expect to hit .296 this year, that's for sure," the second baseman said.
The Chippewa River Chiefs star also put up a .366 on-base percentage this year, with 177 hits, 24 doubles, 1 triple, 34 home runs, 120 RBIs and 97 runs scored.
Masamichi Sasaki of the New Orleans Jedi Knights finished second in voting, while Mario Romero of the New Orleans Jedi Knights finished third.
