Big Day for Mullins: Swats 5 Hits Saturday, September 28th, 2024 All game long Bethesda's Doug Mullins was rattling the walls at Envoys Ballpark and banging out base hits against the Palm Beach Bums. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Hornets had a 9-4 victory. Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 21-year-old first baseman said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this." Doug Mullins singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Yale Clement in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. This year Mullins has hit 13 home runs and posted a .272 batting average. |
