Fujii Raps St. Paul for 5 Hits
Sunday, June 23rd, 2024
5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game, and you get your moment of glory, your fifteen minutes of fame -- you get your name in the record book. In the Vikings 16-3 win over St. Paul, Toyoaki Fujii was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Saints Ballpark. "To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for a 5-hit game. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close." On his big day Fujii delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Toyoaki Fujii doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
So far this season Fujii has gotten 71 hits in 282 at-bats for a .252 batting average with 4 home runs. His stats include 19 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has played in 74 games.
