Hit Parade: Hara Gets Cycle
Friday, September 15th, 2023
Akio Hara of the Kingwood Knights touched all the bases today at The Barn in the 11-4 victory over Winfield, hitting for the cycle. He teed off on Warriors pitching for a single, double, triple and a home run. The feat is rare in baseball as it requires a game of no fewer than four hits and the unusual combination of a home run, which requires a batter to hit for some power -- and a triple, which requires a batter to have both speed on the basepaths -- and a favorable fall of the ball.
"The hardest part was the triple," confessed Hara, "A lot has to go right for you to get a triple. It is real easy to get greedy trying to stretch a double and get thrown out. It's really hard to get a three-bagger." He finished his special day with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBI, 3 runs scored and a place in the record book.
Akio Hara hit an RBI double in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Wing-kit Chen in the 9th.
This year Hara has collected a .247 batting average to date with 53 hits in 215 at-bats, 32 RBIs, 10 home runs and scored 41 times. He has played in 66 games.
