5-Hit Game for Mansvelt Wednesday, June 7th, 2023 After the New Orleans 24-1 victory over Cherry Hill and his 5-hit day third baseman Mateo Mansvelt told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game are very good. Three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special." The 21-year-old player gained that distinction today at The Republic with a spectacular 5 for 7 game against the Cherry Hill Stealers. The skipper of the Jedi Knights spoke glowingly of Mansvelt, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Mateo did that to perfection today." Mateo Mansvelt singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in t he 8th. Currently Mansvelt has 5 home runs and a .297 batting average. |
