Chave Must Sit Out 4 Games
Monday, April 24th, 2023
The suspension of right fielder Toby Chave did not sit well with the Bel Air Princes. Both Chave and his manager were livid at what both say is an unjustified 4-game suspension issued today by league officials. Chave was suspended for "inappropriate conduct" during a game against the Albuquerque Human Beings yesterday at Philip Banks Field.
Chave was ejected from the game for arguing a strike call. "It's not right," he said, adding, "I didn't do anything to deserve this. Eject me, but don't suspend me."
His manager also vented his displeasure. "Arguments go on all the time, face-to-face, and there's not a suspension. To be suspended is ridiculous. That's bull."
Chave did more than just argue the call, he threw his bat at the feet of the umpire and walked off the field. That is the main reason the league suspended him.
So far this year Chave has 5 home runs and a .319 batting average.
