Vela Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 28
Tuesday, July 26th, 2022
The hitting streak that Chippewa second baseman Ramón Vela had going was ended today by the Eugene Emeralds. Vela, who had hits in his previous 28 games, was stymied today, but the rest of his team picked him up, earning the River Chiefs a 4-1 victory at The Reservation. He was hitless in 2 at-bats.

"Hitting streaks come and go. One good thing came out of it, however, it perked up my batting average a little bit, but did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with the streak always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win."

This year Vela is hitting .429 with 7 home runs and 23 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .480 clip and scored 14 runs.
