Big Day for Sanders: Swats 5 Hits
Tuesday, May 4th, 2021
Getting 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Sanford's Casey Sanders had a very special day against the Sting when everything came together for him. He really swung the bat with authority, getting 5 hits in 8 at-bats. However, it was Houston that picked up the victory. They topped the Stingrays 10-8 at Woodland Park. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Sanders said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em. I had a great day, but the loss kinda put a damper on the day." Disappointed or not, he still gets his name written in the record books. Casey Sanders hit a solo-shot off Bungay Castro in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 8th, hit a two-run double in the 9th, struck out in the 11th, singled in the 13th and singled in the 15th.
This year Sanders is hitting .320, produced 23 RBIs and 2 home runs, scored 15 times and gotten on base at a .373 rate.
