Oliver Cervantes Hurt, Out 14 Months
Tuesday, August 12th, 2025
Oliver Cervantes at first refused to leave today's Rock River-Wichita game after he suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Wichita starting pitcher said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Cervantes out of action for 14 months.

This year Cervantes has a 4-5 mark in 6 starts with a 2.79 ERA. He has given up 50 hits in 61.1 innings, struck out 44 and issued 29 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .224 batting average against him.
