Oakes's 20-Game Hit Streak Ends
Saturday, May 24th, 2025
For once, it was the Shamrocks picking up John Oakes.

Their offensive catalyst, as the Pacifica manager calls him, saw his 20-game hitting streak snapped as Oakes was held hitless by the Killeen Black Knights at McCormick Field. The 21-year-old second baseman went 0-for-6. It should have made for a lousy day, but his teammates picked up the slack and whipped the Black Knights 6-5.

At the press conference after the game, Oakes told reporters, "Everybody did the job but me. No problem, we won the game."

Asked how he felt about the streak ending, he grinned and replied, "It was a good run. I'll try to start another one tomorrow."

Oakes currently has a .316 batting average with 59 hits, 4 homers, 24 RBIs, 26 runs scored and a .368 OBP.
