3-HR Game for Jacobs Wednesday, September 13th, 2023 Newark left fielder Coy Jacobs sensed he was going to have a good game at the plate, but he underestimated just a little bit. Prior to the game, Jacobs predicted he would hit a home run against the Ottawa Outlaws. During batting practice he told his teammates, "I really got my swing down pat. I feel some thunder in the lumber. I'm gonna get me a home run in this game." He was right. He did hit a home run -- three of them, in fact -- pacing the Jail Birds over the Outlaws 9-1. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Jacobs told reporters after the game. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 4 runs. Coy Jacobs hit a solo-shot off Pin-zhen Sun in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Pin-zhen Sun in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Pamphile Cencio in the 8th. This season Jacobs has hit 36 home runs and posted a .272 batting average. |
