Week's Premier Player: Riverside's Martínez Monday, September 19th, 2022 20-year-old Jorge Martínez made a few Riverside headlines during this past week as the rookie third baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Alexander Cartwright League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 13 hits in 24 at-bats to put up a .542 average. Martínez collected 2 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 9 runs. Martínez is presently hitting at a .287 pace with 14 home runs and 72 RBIs. He has played in 136 games and scored 106 times. |
