Zavala 5-5 for Spartans Tuesday, September 6th, 2022 Sandy Springs first baseman Iván Zavala banged out 5 hits today, but it was not enough to keep his club from succumbing to the Rats 10-9. He went 5-for-5 and raised his batting average a few points. Despite the loss, Zavala was not dismayed: "If the hits keep coming," he said, "so will the runs -- and more importantly -- so will the wins." Iván Zavala singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jo-hsi Sang in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 9th. For the season Zavala is hitting .330, batted in 55 runs with 5 home runs and 58 runs scored. |
