Place Batters Phoenix for 6 Hits Thursday, August 18th, 2022 Quentin Place exploded for a barrage of base hits today at UFO Field. The Newark second baseman had a field day in the 9-5 triumph over the Phoenix Lights, finishing with a 6-6 day and a spot in the league record book. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Well, Place must have focused at least 6 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat. Quentin Place singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Place is hitting .297 so far this season with 66 RBIs and 79 runs scored. He has 141 hits including 3 home runs, 85 walks and .404 OBP. |
