Leeder and Giugino Fight, Suspended 8 Games
Wednesday, July 28th, 2021
The league commissioner announced that two players had been suspended for inappropriate conduct. He told BNN, "What I'm trying to do with these penalties is say, we can't stop you from doing these things, but if you do them, you have to understand you will pay the consequences."

Baseball can be an intense game and on-field confrontations happen. However, the league disciplinary policy is to punish, sometimes severely, those who decide to settle things with their fists.

When Gerard Leeder of the Jacksonville Hellcats and Cristoforo Giugino of the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats got into a scuffle during a game, both players knew that a suspension would be forthcoming.

Sure enough, today it was announced that both players will each receive a 8-game suspension for their actions in a recent game at Hellcats Park.

This year Leeder is hitting .148 with 2 home runs and 12 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .246 clip and scored 24 runs.

Presently Giugino has a 5-4 mark in 20 starts with a 6.25 ERA. He has given up 106 hits in 108 innings, struck out 119 and issued 82 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .253 batting average against him.
