Monday, September 1st, 2025
Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask Vicente Chávez, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Antioch Coal Miners closer, 22, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .200 average and walked away with the Blake Camden League Pitcher of the Month award for August.
Chávez posted a 3-0 mark and a 0.69 ERA in 10 relief appearances. In 13 innings, he had 5 saves, 14 strikeouts, and 5 walks.
This year in 54 relief appearances, Chávez has collected 30 saves while posting an ERA of 3.02 and 47 strikeouts in 56.2 innings. His totals for the year also include 5 wins and 3 losses.
