Torres Hit String Snapped at 22
Friday, May 23rd, 2025
Roberto Torres, first baseman for the Wichita Wranglers, gave it a good try, but his day in history finally came to an end, when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Mdewanketon Sabercats. Not only had they stopped his 22-game hitting streak, they had beaten Wichita 10-1, too.
Speaking with the media after the game, Torres said, "Now that the streak has ended, I admit I will breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat. It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."
This year Torres is hitting at a .359 pace with 6 home runs and 26 RBIs. He has played in 31 games and scored 24 times.
