Hit Streak Over, Phantoms Stop Lewis
Monday, May 5th, 2025
It was the best of both worlds for the Coronado Phantoms today at Phantoms Field as they defeated the Fairfield Flash 4-3 and also ended Frank Lewis's 34-game hitting streak. The 27-year-old Fairfield second baseman failed to get a hit in 2 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Frank, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Phantoms skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Lewis frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."
This year Lewis has hit 1 home run and posted a .410 batting average.
