3-HR Binge for Blanchard Against Indian Wells Monday, September 9th, 2024 Three home runs in a game doesn't happen often. When it does it is usually something special to celebrate. But Peter Blanchard of Mdewanketon couldn't really celebrate it. In spite of his career day, the Sabercats lost to the Aeropostales 23-8. However, he can celebrate that he joined a select group of players who have hit three home runs in a single game. He powered three into the stands today against the Indian Wells Aeropostales. In all he was 3-for-4 against Indian Wells with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Blanchard told reporters after the game, "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run. Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today I tried on the last one." His manager added, "He is blessed with a natural home run swing. He gets the ball up in the air real quickly. It's just a shame we couldn't win the game, too. I'm sure it spoils the day a little for him. Peter is quite a competitor." Peter Blanchard hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Tim Huber in the 9th. This year Blanchard has socked 72 hits in 292 at-bats for a .247 average with 17 home runs. He is getting on base at a .319 pace and his totals also include 64 RBIs and 43 runs scored. |
