Whitney Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Bombers Sunday, July 21st, 2024 Martin Whitney penned his name in the record books after an explosive home run spree against Bronx. He's now among the select sluggers who have hit three home runs in a game, but it didn't guarantee a victory. The Pasadena Bumblebees fell to the Bronx Bombers 11-10. In his record-setting day at The Hole the Pasadena right fielder went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and scored 4 times. "It was just one of those days," he told BNN sportswriters in the postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." Whitney added, "You would think three homers would win most games. It was good to hit 'em, but a win would have really made my day." Martin Whitney hit a two-run home run off Júlio Gonzáles in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Júlio Gonzáles in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Júlio Gonzáles in the 5th, walked in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
