No-Hit Masterpiece by López Friday, July 19th, 2024 Enrique López of the Joplin Fireballs was certainly the King of the Hill today in the Blake Camden League. He really did a number on the Vancouver Canadians -- and that number was zero -- the number of hits he gave up in his 4-0 victory at The Firepit. "I can't believe I got a no-hitter!" said an exuberant López after the game. "That is the last thing you think about when you go out to the mound. You just want to win the game. The toughest part was the last couple of innings. Everybody in the ballpark knows you have a no-hitter, including me. That was the hard part, keeping your focus and concentration while your heart is pounding." López recorded 7 strikeouts and 3 walks in his sensational performance. Checking out his stats for the year, López has racked up 7 wins and 9 losses in 19 starts, 3.54 ERA and struck out 77 batters in 124.2 innings. |
