Comelay 5-6 Against Freeze
Friday, August 25th, 2023
Michael Comelay was on quite a roll today as he knocked the ball all over The Hole, collecting 5 hits, but wasn't able to win the game. He got his 15 minutes of fame, but the Minneapolis Freeze got the 6-4 victory over the Pasadena Bumblebees. "Headlines and highlights are great, but it takes a lot of luster off it because we lost the game," he said after the game. After his first couple of hits, the eyes of everybody in the ballpark were on him each time Comelay stepped into the batter's box. Even a few of the opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little baseball history unfold. In the clubhouse, crowded by reporters, the Pasadena third baseman said, "I never realized that hitting a little ball around could cause so much commotion." When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and replied, "The key to hitting for a high average is to relax, concentrate, and hit the ball where they ain't." That's exactly what he did t oday as Comelay finished the game with 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book. Michael Comelay singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th, doubled in the 10th and singled in the 11th.
Thus far this year Comelay has hit .253 with 12 home runs and 38 RBIs.
