Hits Galore: Thompson Drills 5 Hits Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 History in the making. That's what the fans at The Death Star got to see today, when Bronx outplayed the Death Stars 22-6. Wilford Thompson of the Bombers came to the plate 6 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Detroit. In the postgame press conference the Detroit skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink." Wilford Thompson struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off John Slater in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Carl Pollard in the 7th. So far this season Thompson is batting .257 with 15 home runs. |
