Navarro Batters Reno for 5 Hits
Saturday, April 22nd, 2023
Players get multihit games all the time. But a 5-hit game comes around only once in a blue moon. It happened at Golden Fleece Park when Felipe Navarro of Astoria scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Reno Raiders. He walloped 5 hits in 6 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Argonauts get by the Raiders 18-5. In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the center fielder of the Argonauts said, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 5-6. I could get used to a lot of days like this one." Felipe Navarro doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
In 18 games this season Navarro has compiled a .310 batting average with 22 hits and 6 home runs. He has also scored 18 times and knocked in 15 runs.
