Streak Finally Over, Wood Held Hitless
Saturday, September 24th, 2022
Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 22-game hitting streak, Durham left fielder Jim Wood went hitless in 3 at-bats today in the Bulls 7-6 win over Indian Wells at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
In a postgame interview, he said, "Nope, not superstitious. Streaks don't last forever. Nobody jinxed me. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits."
His manager said, "It's not like we could go 22 games without talking to him."
Wood is presently hitting at a .277 pace with 19 home runs, 62 RBIs and has scored 66 times.
